OBEDIENCE TRAINED! Boxer Age: 2 years Size: Large (60 lbs) Gender: Male Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes Cats: yes Came in: 7/2/09 I'm Deaf! What can I say about my Oscar? He is deaf,white and almost 80 lbs. of pure Boxer love! I've been lucky enough to have him in my life for just about a year and a half and he's brought nothing but fun and laughter into my home. Oscar is a very special boy who deserves all the best this world can offer. His love for his family never wavers and he shows this every day with smiles and wiggles. He is potty-trained, crate trained and knows some basic commands (through gestures - he knows watch me, sit, stay and come). Being deaf, he's very focused on the people around him to show him what to do and he will do anything for treats so it's very easy to guide him along. Aside from being deaf, he also has a crooked jaw. We don't know how it happened (it was before our time with him) but his lower jaw is crooked and leaves his tongue hanging out of his mouth all the time. He has no problem eating or drinking, in my opinion it just gives his handsome face a little bit of a goofy charm! : ) Oscar is a playful boy who loves treats, toys and sunbathing just as much as any other pup! The only health problem Oscar has had are some occasional seizures. They don't happen often (in the year and a half we've had him he's had about 6 total episodes) and are easily controlled by a $17 prescription of Phenobarbital given twice daily. This is a small price to pay for having him in your life. You can tell by the pictures that he's been spoiled rotten : ) He loves basic walks, hiking, chasing flashlight beams in our backyard and of course lounging on the couch with his people! He's an amazing dog with an amazing heart. I don't know what else to write about a dog I love so much! My heart breaks at the thought of giving him up but I know that right now, the life I can offer is not good enough for him. This was not an easy decision, the only thing that has made this bearable is the thought that Boxers & Buddies would consider helping Oscar find an awesome home with people who would do nothing but love and appreciate him for the rest of his life. I wish I could provide that home for him. We do not adopt out dogs as gifts Our adoption fees are as follows: Puppies under 6 months old: $250 Dogs and Puppies over 6 months old: $200 Senior dogs over 6 years old: $150 Boxers and Buddies is operated 100% by the help of volunteers. The volunteers spend their spare time helping dogs in need find new homes. Our volunteers have families, jobs, and dogs on their own that keep them very busy. They help when they can, so please be patient with our volunteers. If we don't get back to you in a timely fashion, don't hesitate to send a reminder email our way and we'll do what we can to get back to you. We do not have a 'shelter'. All dogs in need of homes are either in their surrendering home, a foster home, or at a boarding facility. As much as we want the dogs in rescue to be rehomed as quickly as possible, we all have time and area constraints that can sometimes slow the process down. Please know that we take rehoming dogs very seriously and want to make sure all of the dogs we place go to the right families. That can take time, so again, please be patient.
